What Is Eco-Friendly Organic Natural?

What is eco-friendly?  What is organic?  What is natural?

The question I am really asking here is this.  How good is it for YOU?  Does it make sense?  Does it really make a difference for an individual and the society?  Is it worth the extra cost and effort?  All things considered, not just the direct and obvious, is really the so called eco-friendly, the so called organic, regardless of the wording, or what I see as natural and healthy more expensive?  Is it, as the opponents see it, a waste of time and money?

What is alternative food, alternative energy, alternative medicine and alternative lifestyle in general, as contrasted against the mainstream, so called, traditional equivalents?

For thousands of years we got by without artificial or synthetic food fillers and preservatives.  In medicine, we survived and prospered without the so called vitamins and other unnatural chemicals.  We had it all in a form which we call today eco-friendly or organic.

Now, what we, as the whole species, have been doing throughout our human history for tens of thousands of years is called “alternative”, in reality carrying the connotation, if not straightforward meaning of marginal, extravagant, strange, weird, wacko.

Isn’t it a huge misunderstanding, to say the least, to call a phenomenon with a genus long tradition, in essence, “experimental”, and what, in historic terms, just started – “traditional”?
